Hey subscribers!
Love you. Thanks for being here.
No, I don’t consider myself rich.
However, I’m MUCH richer than I was when I was working 9-5 and in a cubicle.
So I figured I’d answer this question for you from experience…
Do you actually get happier when you get rich?
Yes, and no.
Here’s the KEY.
You have to learn to ENJOY your new-found wealth AS you are GROWING IT.
You should probably stop and read that sentence again because it’s important.
I learned this pretty quickly, thankfully.
The first time I realized that I was on a hamster wheel to nowhere was when my wife and I got our first apartment.
We went from this… (we were so happy about this chair haha)
300 sq feet, could touch both walls without moving.
To this, where this was literally the nightly view out the window…
I went from driving this…
To driving this
And I quickly realized that I was doing the worst thing ever…
I was excited for MONTHS leading UP to the purchase of the apartment, car, etc. But once I GOT it, my mind IMMEDIATELY MOVED ON TO THE NEXT THING….
I guess that’s human nature, always “wanting what you can’t have…”
The problem with that is obvious though, you are never HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE!!!!
So how do you fix this??
Honestly, it’s really simple. Here’s the formula I use.
1) Practice gratitude.
You seriously need to practice being THANKFUL for the things you have. Every time you start to think about the next new toy or THING, stop and say a prayer of thanks for the THING you are currently using. It helps, trust me.
2) MAKE MEMORIES WITH YOUR THINGS WITH OTHER PEOPLE.
Memories are more valuable than gold.
They gain value over time.
Ever notice that a great memory lives on forever, and gets better with time?
It’s like a fine wine.
You reminice about it and it brings you joy each time you think about it.
Now, you can COMPOUND THIS by doing it with people you enjoy.
Now, you create a good memory….
And it pays you back EVERYTIME YOU SEE THOSE PEOPLE!
If you’ve ever laughed yourself to tears with friends remembering “that one time” you know what I’m talking about here…
Now, all you have to do is take that effect, and use it with the new stuff you acquired.
Launch your friends repeatedly in your Tesla (it’s really fun and really fast)
Have people over to experience the view and fireworks WITH YOU
Use your money to travel with your best friends and family
Once I started doing those 2 things above, I was instantly happier, and my money actually started having a direct effect on my happiness.
Overall, it can be summarized pretty simply.
If you aren’t happy now, you won’t be happy with more “stuff”.
However, if you can find a way to be ridiculously happy with what you have now…
Adding more money to that equation is like “pouring gas on a fire”…
It will make every experience that much more memorable and shareable, because you won’t have the stress of money associated with it.
Anyway, I hope this helped you.
If it did, be sure to subscribe to get this letter 5x per week and share this with 5 friends who you think it would help.
Love always.
