Hey guys!
I’m tired today.
Crazy day of filming, pouring my little heart out to the camera and microphone.
It’s exhausting.
So, to be DEAD HONEST, I did NOT want to write this letter right now.
Nope, I wanted to go downstairs, lay on the couch, and kiss my wife.
But here I am, writing.
So, I thought….
This is interesting…
What about this situation is forcing me to do the RIGHT THING, which is to SUCK IT UP, and WRITE THIS DAMN LETTER???
That’s the key to getting all your goals and dreams right there…. ^^^
Here’s what it is…
Make the thing you NEED to do IMPOSSIBLE to get out of.
That’s it. Simple enough right?
In practice though, here are some PRACTICAL tips for making it happen.
1) Make sure people you care about deeply are impacted if you mess up or quit.
So, with this letter example..
If I just bail.
And don’t write this letter.
I piss off the people I care about the most.
Because let’s be honest, if you are reading this letter, you are in the inner circle.
And that really hurts me to disappoint members of the inner circle.
The good news is you can make this HURT for any bad habit you have in your life…
One guy I know had an issue with porn…
So what did he do?
He downloaded an app…
Anytime he went to that website…
Guess what happened?
Yep, you guessed it… it literally texted his FATHER, MOTHER and PASTOR his browsing history….
Guess who never looked at porn again? Yep.
2) Make it hurt in your WALLET too.
Still with the letter example, if I bail on you guys, it affects my money.
To be perfectly honest with you here, it doesn’t affect my money MUCH haha.
I do this letter for fun and to help people, not to make money, I have enough of that.
But still, money is money, and facing that decision tonight, I decided to keep writing.
For you, it’s as simple as making the most important things you do in your business directly related to the money that you make.
That way, if you don’t do those things, you don’t make money. Period.
3) Burn your ships.
Ever heard the famous story?
The story goes, that Fernando Cortez was facing an opposing army.
And he wasn’t sure if he was going to win.
So he burned all the ships (his army’s only escape route).
And basically told his army that it was either win this battle, or die.
By burning the escape routes, he gave them no option to lose.
You can do the same thing in your own life, burn your boats.
For me, it was my 9-5 job. When I was this miserable sap sitting in this cubicle…
I hadn’t burned my boats yet.
Sure, I was committed to Amazon FBA, but I still had a job (even a crappy one) to fall back on.
The day I REALLY started making money was the day I quit that sorry excuse for a job and started doing Amazon full-time.
I burned my ships behind me and the rest is history.
Some questions for you to consider this evening…
Who is most important in your life? Who’s opinions do you value most?
How can you make those people disappointed if you fail at your most important tasks?
How can you do some cause and effect? I.E. how can you make it hurt you in the WALLET AREA more next time you fail at ______ (important thing).
What areas of your life do you need to man up (or woman up) and burn your ships?
